GEDIS originated in the late 1980s as the geological bore information respository within the Geological Survey of Victoria, now GeoScience Victoria, Earth Resources, a division of the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources. The GEDIS data includes Government investigation and stratigraphic bores, groundwater bores, coal bores, petroleum bores, mineral exploration bores, extractive industry (sand, stone and clay) bores, geotechnical bores and other miscellaneous bores.
The version of the GEDIS database is the same as that provided on the Earth Resources website.
This layer is consumed using Web Mapping Services from GeoScience Victoria. As this is an interoperable layer, it is as current as the GeoVic portal is.
